NEW YORK (WBNG) -- May is Stroke Awareness Month, and health experts said it’s the perfect opportunity to learn about its warning signs.

The American Heart Association said that strokes are largely preventable, treatable and beatable.

Officials said the warning signs can be learned more easily using the acronym FAST or fast.

The Heart Association said “F” stands for face drooping, “A” for arm weakness, “S” for speech difficulty, and, if all of those signs are present, then “T” is for time to call 911.
