NEW YORK (PIX11) --- A gang member who shot and killed an innocent bystander in Manhattan six years ago will be spending decades behind bars, prosecutors said Monday.
Luis Filpo was sentenced to 25 years in a federal prison for killing 24-year-old Roberto Vasquez on Jan. 31, 2019 in Manhattan, authorities said.
Filpo, a member of "the 200s," fatally shot Vasquez because he mistakenly thought he was a rival gang member, officials said.
The defendant ambushed the victim as he got out of a parked car and opened fire, authorities said. Another passenger in the car was injured.
Filpo previously pled guilty to conspiracy to commit murder in aid of racketeering and assault with a dangerous weapon in aid of racketeering.
