OTTAWA COUNTY, MI -- Ottawa County leaders expect to soon narrow a list of 30 applicants who want to be the next county administrator.

The county received 39 applicants total for the position, but only 30 met the county’s minimum requirements for the job.

Ottawa County has been without a full-time administrator since John Gibbs was fired in February 2024. Gibbs later reached a settlement with the county that paid him $190,000 and allowed his employment record to show he resigned.

Since February 2024, the county has had three different interim administrators.

Jon Anderson was appointed as interim administrator shortly after Gibbs’ departure. At the time, Anderson also was running for Ottawa County sheriff.

Anderson, who lost his bid for sheriff, resigned in October.
