FLINT, MI -- The City Council could take its first vote on Mayor Sheldon Neeley’s proposed budget on Wednesday, May 14, after struggling to adopt spending plans on time in each of the past two years .
The $68.5-million general fund budget, millage rates, a master fee schedule, and assessments for garbage collection and street lights are among the items on Wednesday’s special meeting agenda.
Departmental budget hearings that started several weeks ago have been sparsely attended by residents and council members, but citizens can speak during a public hearing scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at City Hall, 1101 S. Saginaw St.
The council meeting is scheduled to follow that hearing.
Neeley spoke to council members about his proposed budget for the fiscal year that begins on Ju
