Kansas City police are investigating a fatal shooting that killed one man Saturday morning.

Officers responded just after 2 a.m. to the 4200 block of College Avenue on a shooting call. They found a man unresponsive on a sidewalk in front of a house suffering from gunshot wounds, according to Capt. Jake Becchina, a police spokesman.

Officers rendered aid to the man as paramedics were in route to the scene. The man was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have not yet publicly identified the victim.

In a preliminary investigation, detectives found that the victim had an interaction in front of the residence that escalated and led to gunfire, Becchina said.
