New Santa Maria Police Chief Christopher Williams is eager to not only serve the city, but become part of its fabric.

Now in his third week on the job, Williams brings with him nearly three decades of law enforcement experience, a clear vision for community engagement, and fond childhood memories of the city that first introduced itself to him through youth swim meets and family road trips.

Originally from the Oxnard area, Williams says his background aligns well with the needs of Santa Maria.

“Really, Santa Maria is very similar to the city that I worked at in Oxnard by the demographics, the community, the issues... I thought it would be a good transition,” said Williams, 49.
