LOUDONVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) - A group of students at St. Pius X are learning how to wield a bow and arrow in a new archery program. Their educators are hopeful that the lessons taught during practice can be applied when shooting for their dreams.

“I don’t know too many famous archers but I know that I do look up to my teammates, and I definitely look up to Mr. Smith and I just like shooting, so it’s really fun for me,” said a 5th grade student.

Jim Smith, their coach, was asked to start the club at the school after his daughter, a skilled archer, graduated. There are now 20 students in the program.

One of his archers, 13-year-old Natasha, has placed at multiple archery competitions at the state and national level.
