23andMe, the startup that helped usher in the era of consumer DNA test kits nearly two decades ago, filed for bankruptcy protection in March after setbacks including a class action lawsuit and data breach.

Regeneron offered to buy the company for $256 million in May after the Chapter 11 filing and resignation of founder and CEO Anne Wojcicki.

She had earlier tried to buy the company herself and on June 4 a bankruptcy court agreed to reopen the auction.
