NEW ORLEANS — The I-10 on ramp from South Carrollton Avenue could be closed for at least a month after a garbage truck tipped over and got stuck.

It happened on Monday morning when a large truck overturned, leaving it partially hanging off the Carrollton on-ramp to I-10 westbound.

Officials said the truck crashed and hit a support beam for the Airline Drive exit ramp, which caused structural damage to the ramp.

In a video captured by WWL at the scene, a garbage truck can be seen with its front-end teetering over the elevated edge of the ramp. Crews from the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) and several New Orleans police units responded to the scene when it happened nearly three weeks ago.
