A man has died days after he was found injured in a Kansas City shooting Saturday.

Police were called around 4 p.m. to the area of 73rd Street and South Benton Avenue , where they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds in front of a residence. He was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, and died Monday of his injuries, according to Capt. Jake Becchina, spokesperson for the Kansas City Police Department.

A preliminary investigation indicated to police that the victim and an unknown suspect had an interaction in front of the residence that escalated to gunfire, hitting the victim, according to Becchina. His death is now being investigated as a homicide.

The name and age of the victim have not been released, but police have said he was an adult.
