A Kansas City man is charged with murder in connection with a shooting that killed one person in Independence last week, according to court records.

Jadon T. Stumph was charged Tuesday with second degree murder, armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a firearm, Jackson County Circuit Court records show.

Officers responded just before midnight to the 1600 block of North High Street for a reported shooting. When they arrived, they found a man laying in the driveway of a residence with two gunshot wounds in his left torso, police said.

Paramedics attempted life saving measures, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not yet publicly identified the man killed.
