OKLAHOMA CITY — Former University of Kentucky (UK) Wildcat and Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shae Gilgeous-Alexander was named MVP of the 2024-2025 NBA season on Wednesday.

This comes after Gilgeous-Alexander led the NBA in scoring, averaging nearly 33 points per game, while also recording five rebounds and six assists. The Thunder guard rallied his team to a season-leading 68 wins en route to a Western Conference Finals appearance against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Last season, Gilgeous-Alexander finished as the MVP runner-up to Nikola Jokic, who won his third MVP in four seasons. He also joins Kevin Durant (2014) and Russell Westbrook (2017) as the only Thunder players to win the NBA MVP.
