CLOVER, S.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- A man has died after deputies say he was reportedly attempting to steal copper and metal from a substation when he electrocuted himself.
According to the York County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a report of a man found unconscious in a field near Carlton Court and Dale Valley Circle Tuesday night.
Two York Electric Company Employees told deputies they were walking down an access road to a green electric box to verify it had power going to it because of a reported power outage in the area.
When they arrived at the power box, they found a man lying on the ground unconscious, not breathing. The power box had the lock cut off, the lid open and the wires inside were burnt.
