WHARTON, N.J. (PIX11) -- I-80 is beginning to heal.
"Game-changer," said Mount Arlington resident Kevin O'Brien.
Two eastbound lanes of the highway near the sinkhole site have opened, alleviating not just some congestion, but a little bit of tension.
"Today's day one, and we've already been seeing faces that we haven't seen in 4 months, since this all started," said Yazan Muheisen, co-owner of Pop's Bagel Shop in Wharton.
O'Brien is one of those faces that made Pop's part of his day. "This was the morning routine," said O'Brien.
Like countless others, his morning and evening commutes have been mired by slowdowns. "It's like driving in New York City," said O'Brien, "but at least in New York City, you expect it."
