BOISE – As a record 45.1 million Americans, including 274,000 Idahoans, hit the road and race to the airport for Memorial Day weekend, travelers should expect big crowds regardless of how they go. And nationwide, AAA is preparing to respond to as many as 360,000 requests for emergency road service over the holiday.

“Even if you don’t have time for a complete vehicle inspection at this point, check your tire pressure and make sure your engine fluids are topped off,” says AAA Idaho public affairs director Matthew Conde. “Getting an early start to your travel day will also give you the best chance of avoiding heavy traffic.”
