INDIANAPOLIS (KYMA, KECY) - Alex Palou made history on Sunday by winning the 109th running of the Indianapolis 500, becoming the first driver from Spain to ever win the legendary race. The win also marked his first career victory on an oval and continued a dominant run in the 2025 NTT IndyCar Series season.

Palou took the lead for good with 14 laps remaining, passing Marcus Ericsson with an inside move in Turn 1. He held off the competition through the final stretch of the race, which ended under caution following a late crash involving rookie Nolan Siegel.

The win is the fifth of the season for Palou, who has now captured five of the first six races in 2025. It also marks a return to the top step at the Brickyard for Chip Ganassi Racing, which had not won the race since 2022.
