DALLAS — Tuesday marks the final boarding call for booking a flight on Southwest Airlines without being charged a fee to check bags .

The airlines' longstanding "bags fly free" policy allowed passengers two free checked bags with every ticket, but all of that is set to change Wednesday.

The Dallas-based airline announced the change in March, saying that the new policy would start with flights booked on or after May 28, 2025.

How much do bags cost on Southwest?

Southwest said Tuesday that it will be charging $35 for a first checked bag and $45 for a second checked bag. Weight and size limits will apply for bags.
