MERRIMACK, N.H. —
As Merrimack's boys' lacrosse team makes a push for the playoffs, senior Jake Miller is back on the field to help his teammates about a year after the scare of his life.
"After the first game, I had an asthma attack and the next day, I'm in the hospital diagnosed with cancer," Jake said.
Jake was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic lymphoma. He spent the next 23 days at Boston Children's Hospital.
Jake had one thing on his mind.
"It was scary. I didn't know if i was going to be able to play lacrosse again or do any sports really because that's what i love to do
Treatment takes two full years, and Jake had a complication around Christmas when he suffered a stroke, a rare side effect of one of the medications he was on.
