CHESTER, S.C. (WBTV) - A teenager was caught with a loaded gun at a South Carolina school on Tuesday morning.

The 17-year-old reportedly had the gun inside his bookbag at Chester High School.

The said the gun was found during a routine weapon screening.

After the firearm was discovered, deputies said the school resource officer took the teenager into custody. He was then taken to the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice. Because the teenager is younger than 18, his name was not released.

No other information was given by the sheriff’s office.
