The elderly man who accidentally struck a child with a golf cart before the start of the St. Clair Shores Memorial Day Parade was issued a violation at the scene, police said Tuesday.
St. Clair Shores Police Chief Jason Allen said the 75-year-old area resident was pulling out of a parking lot Sunday afternoon when the crash took place on the sidewalk along Harper Avenue, south of 11 Mile Road.
“He had not been consuming alcohol,” police said in a brief news release.
According to that document, the golf cart driver struck an adult male and the child as they were walking on the sidewalk. The child suffered injuries and was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment, police said.
