JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — For the first time in 15 years, Jacksonville residents may soon be paying significantly more for trash pickup.
The Jacksonville City Council is set to vote Tuesday on a proposal that would nearly double the current fee — a move that has sparked mixed reactions across the city.
Currently, residents pay $12.65 a month for residential trash pickup. Under the proposed plan, that fee would increase to $27 per month this year, followed by additional hikes: $29.50 in 2026 and $32 by 2027.
Councilman Matt Carlucci tells First Coast News the increase is long overdue and necessary to cover the actual cost of service.
