SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - Two students from Riley High School were honored on Tuesday afternoon by the Kiwanis Club of South Bend for their achievements in the classroom and in sports.

Anthony Schmok and Rachel Hunt received the Nellie and John Wooden Athletic Awards, named after legendary college basketball coach John Wooden.

The two student-athletes played a total of four sports throughout their high school careers.

“It’s amazing, I had no clue about this,” Schmok said. “I guess the admin knew about it and kept it a secret from me, so I’m really happy for this, and every little bit helps for scholarship money. It’s definitely a great honor.”
