SOUTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — A Providence man has been charged with video voyeurism in connection with an incident that happened at the University of Rhode Island (URI), 12 News has learned.

James Paquette, 29, was taken into custody last Wednesday in the capital city on a warrant issued by the URI Police Department, according to Rhode Island State Police.

URI's Dawn Bergantino confirmed the incident, but stopped short of providing specifics. She told 12 News Paquette has no current affiliation with the university and that this was an isolated incident involving one known victim.

"This remains an active criminal investigation," Bergantino said.
