Those hoping to dive into Lincoln city pools for the first time this year will have to keep waiting.

Parks and Recreation officials announced pools will remain closed Wednesday due to cooler-than-normal temperatures.

Lincoln's nine city pools were originally set to open Monday, but officials have had to push the start date back.

City policy requires a high temperature of at least 70 degrees for pools to open.

Monday's high reached 64 degrees, Tuesday touched 61 and Wednesday's high was forecast to hit 69 degrees.

Pools are scheduled to open Thursday if temperatures climb above 70 degrees. The weather service is calling for a high of 72.

But more seasonable weather is expected for the weekend, with highs in the 80s called for Friday through Sunday.
