In its latest action targeting international students , the Trump administration ordered U.S. embassies to stop scheduling interviews for student visa applicants Tuesday while it develops a new process for vetting international students’ social media profiles, The Boston Globe reported .
In a cable, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that no new interviews should be scheduled, but that those that have already been arranged need not be cancelled, the newspaper wrote. Potential students being considered in those interviews will be evaluated using current guidelines, but no new interviews are to be scheduled until the Trump administration finalizes the new social media profile evaluation protocols.
The order muddies the visa process at a time when the application window for foreign stu
