TAMPA, Fla. (WWSB) - An assistant state attorney for Hillsborough County has been arrested and charged with possession of child pornography, the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said.

In an investigation that began almost a year ago, detectives received information that files involving child pornography were being accessed and shared via the internet by a suspect identified as 32-year-old William Andrew Jones.

According to detectives, the files were of females between the ages of 6 and 10 years old engaging in sexual acts.

On May 28, detectives interviewed Jones, who admitted to viewing and transmitting the files. He was arrested and charged with three counts of possession of child pornography, three counts of transmission of child pornography, and two counts of transmission of material
