Wheeling police issued 195 tickets during a traffic safety enforcement campaign over the Memorial Day weekend, the department announced Wednesday.
The effort primarily was aimed at getting people to wear seat belts in cars, police said.
Officers issued 80 tickets for seat belt violations over the holiday weekend, according to a news release. They also ticketed 71 people for distracted driving, 15 people for speeding and three people for child seat violations, among others.
