(QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- A local watchdog group is accusing York County of ignoring zoning laws in its approval of construction permits for the Silfab Solar facility in Fort Mill.
Citizens Alliance for Government Integrity (CAGI) said the county issued permits despite a May 2024 ruling by the Board of Zoning Appeals (BZA) that solar panel manufacturing is not allowed in the site’s light industrial zoning.
They argue the original 2022 zoning letter to Silfab was invalid and that the county has bypassed due process by relying on industry classification codes instead of zoning law.
