The Texans began OTAs today.

"Cool. What are OTAs again?"

I've heard a variation of that question often, every year around this time.

Organized Team Activities (OTAs) are voluntary, non-contact practices. Almost every Texan was inside the Houston Methodist Training Center this morning for the practice, and there are two more this week, and then three more next week on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.

They typically practice outside, but rainstorms pushed the Texans inside for Wednesday's work.

The week after that, Houston will hold its 2-day mandatory minicamp on June 10 and 11. From the 12th through late July, the Texans won't practice together until training camp begins.

Today, the players wore helmets but no pads, and got a fair amount of work in together.
