NORTH STONINGTON, Conn. (WTNH) — A Hopkinton man was sentenced to three years in prison for causing a fatal 2021 crash in North Stonington, according to the Connecticut Division of Criminal Justice.

According to documents revealed in court, James Pont, 63, crossed the double yellow center line on Pendleton Hill Road in North Stonington on Jan. 18, 2021, fatally colliding head-on with 39-year-old Ryan Poland of North Providence.

Pont was seriously injured as a result. He will serve three years in prison, suspended after 13 months to serve with three years' probation.
