TAMPA — Reliever Kevin Kelly, who has been sidelined since early April with a glute strain, is expected to rejoin the Rays bullpen on Friday.

Outfielder Jonny DeLuca had hoped to be on a similar timeline, but a second setback in his recovery from an early April right shoulder strain has left him frustrated. He awaits opinions from additional doctors, uncertain of what’s next.

“I feel like I’ve been going through this for two months now, so we’re trying to figure out answers of why it keeps reoccurring,” DeLuca said. “I got another scan, and they’re saying it’s the same sort of thing. So, it’s more rest. And obviously it’s happened twice where there’s been a setback. So, just trying to figure it out.
