WACO, Texas — A year after suffering a heartbreaking loss in the state championship game, the Midway Pantherettes are heading back to the Class 6A final — and they haven’t forgotten the sting of falling short.
“I think all of us have thought about it almost every day,” said head coach Jordan Williams. “When we were faced with adversity [last year], we didn’t know how to overcome it. We just weren’t battle tested through it.”
That’s not the case in 2025. The Pantherettes have been pushed to their limits this postseason, grinding out tough, low-scoring games and emerging from multiple game 3 scenarios. Williams says the team’s experience this year has shaped a squad ready for anything.
