A four-year-old boy was killed and two women were hospitalized after being struck by a TransLink bus in front of the Horseshoe Bay ferry terminal on Wednesday afternoon.

West Vancouver police said they were called around 3:30 p.m. to the intersection of Keith Road and Bay Street, where pedestrians were reported to be pinned under a bus. When police arrived, firefighters and paramedics were “engaged in life-saving efforts for three individuals,” police said in a news release.

“Despite these efforts, a four-year-old boy was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene,” the statement said.

“His mother was transported to Lions Gate Hospital in critical condition. A second woman, believed to be a family friend, was taken to the same hospital and is currently in stable condition.”
