HENDRICKS COUNTY, Ind. — There were cheers in the courtroom when a Hendricks County judge rejected a plea deal for an Avon chiropractor accused of sexually assaulting his patients.

The deal fell apart at a May 29 hearing that was supposed to be for sentencing.

Roc Byrd had signed a plea agreement on April 24, pleading guilty to four counts of sexual battery. That deal said "no executed jail sentence shall be imposed."

Byrd's attorneys argued that the deal meant his sentence could not include a work release program. The argument led to the judge rejecting the plea deal and calling for a trial.
