WASHINGTON — More than 250,000 pounds of canned beef stew are being recalled over reports that the cans may contain pieces of wood in them.

The recall, for 256,000 lbs. of "Dinty Moore" beef stew, was issued Wednesday by Hormel Food Corp., according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety Inspection Service.

The recall affects 20-ounce metal cans labeled “Dinty Moore Beef Stew” with a “Best By FEB 2028” date and the lot code “T02045” printed on the can. The code may be followed by an additional number. The affected products were produced on Feb. 4, 2025, and bear establishment number “EST. 199G,” which appears on the can label.
