Wakonda Club, which hosts the Principal Charity Classic, was founded in 1922 on the south side of Des Moines.

Restoration and renovation of the 6,835-yard, par-72 course was finished ahead of the 2024 PCC, including all new tee boxes, five new greens, expanded fairways and rebuilt bunkers.

KCCI's Beau Bowman has played Wakonda and recently spent time walking the course with a PGA official to identify trouble spots for players — and spots where the pros may be able to pick up a stroke or two.
