Police find human remains in Hamilton landfill as search for missing woman continues

Partial human remains have been found in a months-long search of a Hamilton landfill as police investigate the disappearance of a woman who was last heard from in December.

Hamilton police said Thursday they are now waiting on DNA test results to confirm an identity.

Det. Sgt. Daryl Reid said investigators believe Shalini Singh was killed in her apartment and her body was removed through the building’s garbage system.

Singh was initially reported missing in December alongside her boyfriend, but police said he showed up at a family member’s house outside the city the next day and has allegedly refused to co-operate with the investigation.
