DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — A suspect who shot himself in the custody of the Durham police was connected to the death of a teen in early May.
On May 9, police said they responded to the 1200 block of Dayton Street around 8:31 p.m. They found two people, a juvenile male and a man, suffering from gunshot wounds. They were transported to the hospital, where the juvenile later died.
Durham police confirmed Thursday that 19-year-old Joshua Farmer was a suspect in connection with this shooting.
On May 14, he was taken into police custody. As he was being transported, he lunged toward an officer and ended up with his weapon. After a physical struggle, the suspect fired the gun on himself and was later pronounced dead.
