Lompoc residents Dr. Hafez Nasr , 54, and his wife, Saghar Golpayegani, 53, are recovering from serious injuries sustained in a devastating four-vehicle crash earlier this month on Highway 1, south of Lompoc.

The May 18 collision claimed the lives of three South County teenagers and left the community in mourning.

According to Lompoc Valley Medical Center, where Nasr practices primary care at Lompoc Health – North H Center, the couple has undergone multiple surgeries and is making steady progress.

“They are both doing well and recovering well,” said LVMC CEO Yvette Cope, in an email update Wednesday afternoon.
