PHOENIX — On May 12, the Arizona Diamondbacks called their top prospect, Jordan Lawlar, up to the majors after starting the season with six home runs and 31 RBI with the D-backs' Triple-A affiliate, the Reno Aces.
However, Lawlar has struggled since getting called up, and less than three weeks later, the team will send Lawlar back to Reno, according to a report from Arizona Sports 98.7 FM's John Gambadoro .

To fill Lawlar's space on the roster, they have signed utility infielder Ildemaro Vargas, according to Gamabadoro's report. Vargas had opted out of a minor league deal with the D-backs earlier this week, but will now re-sign with Arizona on a major league contract.
