“I think that it’s free violence,’’ the Broncos safety said Thursday.

Hufanga, signed as a free agent in March, took the field this week for the first session of organized team activities, running Tuesday through Thursday at Broncos Park. Nobody wears pads in the spring, so Denver coach Sean Payton said it’s too early to fully gauge the impact Hufanga can have. But he likes what he’s seen so far.

“When you ask about a safety, it’s hard to elaborate when you’re not in shoulder pads and helmets or full gear,’’ Payton said. “He’s smart. He’s a real good leader. He’s played in real good defenses. He’s been a real positive addition.”
