DESOTO, Texas — With no clear winner in the May Election, a runoff will decide if Ken Waters or Everett Jackson takes DeSoto’s City Council Place 3.

“I encourage voters to get out and vote,” said Terrence Gore, a DeSoto resident.

That can seem murky for some, as Jackson’s eligibility is called into question. He checked the box disclosing he had a past felony conviction on his ballot application.

“I also gave paperwork and documentation showing that since then, I have discharged the sentence, not a pardon, but I discharged the sentence,” said Jackson.

With early voting underway, he said the city’s secretary sent an email stating that he did not submit the proper paperwork to run for the seat.
