DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — Police are investigating a shooting where one person is dead and two others are injured early Friday morning in north Durham.

According to the Durham Police Department, officers were called to a shooting on the 1600 block of Rowemont Drive near Whippoorwill Park.

"Callers reported hearing multiple shots fired in the area," the department's news release said.

When they arrived, officers said they found three people with gunshot wound injuries inside a vehicle. All three people were transported to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries.
