Eastpointe Animal Control officer Ashley Sanchez can’t believe the number of abandoned animals she deals with on a regular basis.

Wednesday morning, surveillance video at the Eastland Motel on Gratiot Avenue near Eight Mile Road caught a woman walking up the steps to the second level with a pet carrier. The woman walks to a door, knocks and leaves the carrier by the door.

Inside of it were five very young kittens.

“It is very strange because she went upstairs to a specific door and the maintenance person who lives in that room does not know her and has never seen her at the motel before,” Sanchez said. “From the camera footage, it looks like she went toward Eight Mile after she dropped the kittens.”
