The birthplace of the Orange Crush, Harborside Bar and Grill, is hosting a party to celebrate the newly named Maryland state cocktail.

The Orange Crush was named the state cocktail of Maryland, and this weekend, the place that stated it all, Harborside Bar and Grill in West Ocean City, is hosting a big party to celebrate.

Widely recognized as the birthplace of the Orange Crush, Harborside created the cocktail on a rainy Sunday in October 1995 to drum up business, and it has been a hit ever since.

"It was an awful slow day, and those of us who were here tried it and liked it, and we put it on the drink menu and that one took off," Harborside's co-owner, Chris Wall, told 11 News.
