WASHINGTON — If you’ve ever felt stuck in a job because of a noncompete clause, here’s some good news out of D.C. Attorney General Brian L. Schwalb just handed down a major win for workers.
Two companies, Equinox, the luxury fitness studio, and AllCare, a D.C.-based healthcare provider, have agreed to pay more than $117,000 in penalties and restitution for using noncompete agreements that violated the law. These settlements not only put money back in workers’ pockets, they also serve as a big reminder that in the District your freedom to work and earn a fair wage comes first.
