KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas has eight new cases of measles amid an ongoing outbreak, according to the health department.
Kansas has a total of 64 cases across 11 counties in the southwestern part of the state, with two hospitalizations.
FOX4 reported on May 14 that the state had a total of 56 cases. As of Wednesday, May 28, the Kansas Department of Health and Environment is reporting eight new cases.
According to the department, 59 of the total 64 cases are associated with the outbreak. Most of the cases are in Gray County.
Across the U.S., there are 1,088 confirmed measles cases – up 42 from last week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said Friday.
