SLED: Man shot by police after running at officer with knife

CENTRAL, S.C. (FOX Carolina) - Officials said one person was hurt after an officer-involved shooting at an apartment complex in Central.

Officials said the incident happened at University Village apartments, where many college students reside.

Central police were responding to a domestic call involving a knife. According to officials, when officers got on scene, a man opened the door of the apartment and ran toward an officer with a knife.

The Central officer shot the man, who was transported to the hospital. He was a former college student, according to officials.

No law enforcement officers were injured.

Central’s town administrator, Phillip Mishoe said he has been in the town for decades and he’s never seen this happen.

“I’ve been here 20 years, and this is the first time we’ve ha
