MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace didn’t mince words Friday as she unpacked explosive new reporting surrounding Elon Musk’s drug use during his time on the campaign trail as one of President Donald Trump’s most visible supporters.

“This next story could explain some things,” Wallace told viewers during her show “Deadline: White House,” as she reacted to a bombshell New York Times report that revealed Musk used ketamine “near daily” while campaigning with Trump in 2024, allegedly mixing it with ecstasy, psychedelic mushrooms and other drugs.

“It wasn’t just the volume,” Times reporter Megan Twohey told Wallace on Friday. “It was that these drugs appeared to be mixed.”

Musk had acknowledged previously using legally prescribed ketamine “every couple of weeks” to treat depression, according to Twohey. But, the journalist told Wallace that sources close to Musk described more frequent – and concerning – use.

“At times, the ketamine use was near daily and got to the point where it was causing bladder issues,” she said.

Twohey described Musk as traveling with a “pill box” that contained as many as 20 pills, including one resembling Adderall.

“There have been people close to him who have had concerns about his drug use,” she added.

Ketamine, a powerful anesthetic, has FDA-approved uses for depression and pain – but only under strict medical supervision.

“The FDA has warned that the use of this drug can come with these serious side effects and risks,” Twohey said. Among them, she added, include “addiction and bladder issues.”

Both Musk and the White House declined to comment on the report.
