DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — A woman in Durham awoke in a home Friday morning and discovered she had been shot while sleeping, according to police.
Officers said they responded to a shooting in the 2800 block of Crest Street, which is just blocks north of Duke University Hospital and the main campus of Duke University, around 6:30 a.m.
According to Durham police, a woman in a home on the street "woke up and realized she had been shot." She was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Other people in the house told police they heard shots "several hours earlier," but no injuries were reported by anyone else, a news release said.
